Mylar

Also known as Space blanket, emergency blanket or Rescue blanket.

The term is excellently described on Wikipedia. It is one of the lightest materials you can get for kite building. The material is incredibly strong when it comes to stretch resistance and breaking limit.

But... it also rips very easily. It is smart to strengthen the outer edge of a mylar kite with adhesive tape and keep the kite away from sharp objects, like trees with dead branches.
